Intel’s Maloney on medical leave

Prognosis is good

Intel’s Sean Maloney, Executive VP, is on medical leave.  After suffering a stroke he will be on medical leave of absence for a few months, although that number will be determined by his doctor.  Rumors have Maloney tipped as the next CEO of Intel and so full disclosure, unlike some other fruity companies, seems to be the plan of the day.

Intel released the following statement:

Maloney’s prognosis for a full recovery is excellent and he is expected to resume all of his business responsibilities after a period of recuperation which is thought to be several months, the company said. His duties in the interim will be assumed by Dadi Perlmutter, also executive vice president and general manager (with Maloney) of the Intel Architecture Group.

Otellini personally wishes Maloney well, according to the press release.S|A
