And AMD finally has a real answer to Optimus, which they call Enduro. In fact, since they have ZeroCore, it's a better answer—provided it does work well in practice, of course.

Arrival of Full AMD Radeon™ HD 7000M Series Graphics Lineup Ushers in New Era for Mobile Graphics

"Brings Outstanding Performance and Power Efficiency With Graphics Core Next Architecture and AMD Enduro™ Technology"

Quote:
AMD Enduro™ technology requires either an AMD "A" series or "E" series APU or an Intel processor, plus an AMD Radeon™ HD 7000M series discrete graphics configuration and is available on Windows® 7 Professional, Windows® 7 Ultimate, Windows® 7 Home Premium, and/or Windows® 7 Home Basic OS. Linux OS supports manual switching which requires restart of X-Server to switch between graphics solutions. Not all AMD Radeon™ HD 7000M series GPU features and capabilities may be supported on all AMD Enduro™ technology-enabled components or systems -- always check with your component or system manufacturer for specific mode capabilities and supported technologies.

Enduro is Windows 7-friendly.
Linux users gets the old manual switchable graphics only.

Its more a case of being OpenGL-unfriendly, which makes any Linux compatibility rather pointless anyway.

From that point of view, Enduro still has less functionality than the manually switching Mobility HD 5650 in my TimelineX.
