VideoCore V is nearly here finally, and they are doing the open source drivers pre-emptively this time.

Main issue today with VC4 is the lack of compute resource and a slightly quirky architecture, but given the process, age, history, and target market for the SoC that isn't a surprise.

My point was the closed source binary drivers for VC4 and the lack of support on day one, not 2+ years later. That is a lifetime for ARM SBC's.

Yeah, there have been articles on Phoronix about the VC4 opensource developer doing VC5 work.

Strongly suggests that a BCM7525 or variant thereof will be in the RPi4. TBH I don't care about the graphics but native non-USB Ethernet would be nice.
