Zen A1 may encountered a problem.

Is there any chance that any of these 2017 chips will incorporate HBM2?

You seriously need to stop posting abut cancelled/dead projects like Basilisk etc.
Bulldozer derivatives are DEAD, they won't ever come back in any shape or form. AMD is focusing on Zen and it's derivatives and Bulldozer is dead and buried. Just move on already.

HPC/server only, AFAIK.

Maybe dead if your talking about amds own chips but maybe not for semi-custom chips. What if an OEM wants a specific design using the excavator cores. Unless Zen offers superior performance at the same exact cost then it would be pointless to consider the older excavator cores for anything going forward.

I doubt it. Lisa Su already pretty much hinted that Summit won't hit until December, and even then, in "limited quantities", so the SR starting at Q1 2017 on the graph is technically more accurate, as that is when it launches in higher volume.

4 is the number of cores in one core complex. I'm not sure, if they'll sell partly working core complexes in a chip. Also the latest ES leak at Anandtech's forum had a base granularity of 4.

A core complex might be tightly integrated, similar to CUs in the GPU, where there are also no half enabled CUs. Of course, a CU contains much less logic.

New AMD Zen core details emerged
AMD Zeppelin codename confirmed and perhaps 32 cores per socket, too
AMD K12 looks to be at least a 4-wide design with SMT
AMD's Zen core (family 17h) to have ten pipelines per core

I would imagine if AMD wants to aim for very low power, they're going to need to sacrifice either tons of clocks, or some cores.

I imagine they can disable individual cores in the complex?

Although, part of this problem was I misread "up to 16 compute cores" and read that as CUs. So it is up to 4C/12CU.

I suspect at 4W you're looking at 2C/4-8CU (depends if disabling or lowering clocks reduces power more)

Family 17h, Models 00h-1Fh is an unmitigated disaster.

Family 17h, Model 10h has most all of its new features in Family 15h, Models 65h-7Fh already.

-> Rambus DDR4
-> Per-core FIVR
-> VCE/UVD from Polaris/Arctic Islands
-> Same GPU ISA as Polaris/Arctic Islands [+ Per-SIMD Power Gating]
-> PCIe 3.1 Support
-> Enhanced Platform Security Processor 2.x
-> Complete from scratch from GF28A to GF28HPA. [Bristol Ridge's Excavator has less macros than Carrizo's Excavator. Much more portable.]
