I believe AMD is as much as responsible as the mainboards' manufacturers, and maybe the Intel influence too.

it sounds like someting AMD would do.

They're awfully good at shooting themselves in the foot. And it seems they hadn't with Ryzen.

It's plausible but that sounds more like a shill than a legitimate source

It happens with other AMD products too, especially concerning the mobile space where despite having relatively good performance, their products are simply missing. Who's to blame? It's just poor execution on AMD side mostly.

I am really puzzled. AMD has released the proxy for this year's annual meeting of stockholders and one of the things that has to be voted is:

Quote:
Approve the amendment and restatement of the Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. 2004 Equity Incentive Plan (as
amended and restated, the “2004 Plan”) to: (i) increase the number of authorized shares that can be awarded
to our employees, consultants and directors under the 2004 Plan by 27 million shares; (ii) to prohibit the
payment of dividends on unvested awards;
and (iii) re-approve the material terms of the performance goals
under the 2004 Plan;
What dividends?

AMD having a very good day today for some reason. Up over 3.5% to about 14.55. That's still a point off of their 52-week high of 15.55 (and about 5.6 times their 52-week low of 2.6 ). I wonder what the cause of the move is, as it's a lot bigger than the ~1% increase in Intel's stock price and Nvidia is actually down by ~0.5% today.

Assuming the bump wasn't caused by an updated version of Ashes of the Singularity showing a speed bump for RyZen (which does seem unlikely), and that it's not just an unexplained random fluctuation (possible as, like quantum mechanics, there is some underlying randomness to stock prices, though 3.5% is a bit big for that), then I'm guessing the cause was the apparent pre-NDA Vega info that looks very promising.

I probably should have actually read the text in the supposed slides, rather than the headline.

Edit: Of course even if bogus that wouldn't necessarily stop the market from reacting to it. If memory serves a hoax about Steve Jobs dying (years before his actual death) caused the value of Apple stock to drop something like 10%.
