The registered trademark is likely Nvidia Tesla instead of just Tesla, which is too controversial and generic to be granted TBH.

GTX 480 may or may not have been blowing up some PSUs when tested fully enabled.

There was another revision and renamed to GTX 580 with the 512 fragment pipelines.

It was not the same die. It was as you suggested another revision with changes. Also the process was more mature at this point and a great amount of redundant logic was removed.

I assume the Pro line will get a different ID/SKU to deal with different set of drivers, as the PRO drivers need to get certified?
