Now, we can just wait for a releasing date.

Did you read that in the article? Because I didn't read that in the article.

Well, it says " not just taped out, but final customer silicon has likely gone in to production too."

Oban in production, Jaguar still in development. You draw your own conclusion.

According to this article, the Oban is already in production, while the Jaguar core based AMD products aren't due out until June 2013.

That's a difference of at least 5 months.

Temash and Kabini actually tapped out months ago. http://technewspedia.com/amd-complet...pu-and-temash/

As both contain Jaguar cores.... Do I need to insert the 'Duh' ?

But this is the decisive paragraph:

Quote:
While we have not definitively heard about a go/no go wafer in decision, if Microsoft is going to launch their next generation console this year, they almost assuredly made the December 31 date. Any delay of more than a few weeks will mean no new console in 2013, there just won’t be enough time to make them. If no one credible leaks news soon, I wouldn’t go stand in line for a new Microsoft console in late August.
This article isn't announcing Oban is in production, it is announcing that if it isn't in production already then MS have missed their deadline and the 720 is late.

How long do you think it takes to manufacture enough chips for a launch? As this very article says, Oban needs to be in production as of 2 days ago in order to make an August launch date. Jaguar has an earlier launch date than August.

The Oban was taped out 1 year ago, and it must have gone through several revisions and testing cycles to be production ready.

The same thing with the Kabini, taped out months ago, but 1 year of testing and revisions to get it production ready.

The matter of fact is that the Oban is in production while Jaguar based products are still in the process of testing and revisions.

AMD roadmap for 2013 contradicts what you suggest. Kabini is scheduled for the end of 1st Q 2013 (in worst scenario for 1st H of 2013)
