How is Intel solving their 14nm capacity problems?

Easy enough, do what you did last time around

Intel LogoDuring their analyst day last month, Intel said they have a solution for their capacity issues coming later this year. SemiAccurate has learned what they intend to do and it is a good solution that will work well.

You might recall the Intel capacity issues that SemiAccurate exclusively told you about last September. If you watched the presentations for the Intel Analyst Day last May 8, Intel finally said they had a solution to those capacity problems. This solution to the shortage was planned to be on line early in 2019 but due to hiccups it was pushed out to later this year. SemiAccurate dug in to the issue and we have multiple sources telling us what they intend to do.

If you are new to the semiconductor industry this fix will probably seem shocking, something you would never expect Intel to do. Those of us who have been around for a long time will remember Intel doing the same thing in the past, multiple times, most notably in the 45nm era. The more things change, the more they say the same, only the names change.
