    Well, yeah. The CPU guys (at AMD) must be really envious now, if that's what he was saying.

    (just in case somebody didn't notice it yet. This is a AMD's PR stunt aiming at nvidia)

    OBR claims 1280SPs for Cape Verde.
    http://www.obr-hardware.com/2012/02/...real-spec.html

    What do you think?

    Seems too much, that would be probably heavily bottlenecked by the bandwidth and also would barely leave space for Pitcairn.

    And what if he confused Cape Verde with Pitcairn, being those specs (at least the shader amount) of the HD 78xx?

    Those OBR spec don't make sense, on pure shader power it would approach a 6950, but then it would be awfuly limited by bandwidth, ROPs, geometry etc. Waste of die space. And given we know it is around 130mm^2 I doubt there is much space going to waste.

    I made a screenshot in case OBR pulls it.

    Yeah, I am calling BS on OBR. I think Pitcairn is 1280SP though.

    Remember that GCN is a whole new beast. 7950 1792@800 and 6970 1536@880 are very close in terms of theoreticals. Yet 7950 is in a different league to 6970, some ~30% faster in newer games.

    VLIW5 --> 80% utilization
    640 shaders of the new architecture should be comparable to 800 vliw5 shaders or more on a lot of scenarios like games.
    But the bandwidth is lower, so probably it's fake.

    vliw5 --> 68%
    vliw4 --> 80%

    The same specifications were posted by one of the people who work for OcUK:

    They said it will cost around ?130 to ?140 which should put in the HD6870 1GB and GTX560 non-TI price range in the UK.

    You can run, but you can't hide
