    Exclamation Ryzen CPUs thread

For the discussion of the first generation of Ryzen CPUs, and possible APUs.

This is about the whole die, not specifically the core.

Please try to leave discussion explicitly about the Zen core in it's own thread.

This is for the SKUs performance, power, overclocking, etc.

I predict I will reach between 3.8ghz and 5.5ghz with a margin of error of 27% when I get my 1700x. I will cite this post to show you all how right I am all the time.
Within 27% margin of error and 3mm off my estimate of something 4mm, good enough to predict the future

so, that's the kind of stuff we want to keep OUT of this thread.

To both keep it readable, and to not feed the troll(s).

What a shame, since the "troll" has been banned on his/her own faults..
    Where's the fun?

He found a new "home" on couple of other message boards . Too bad he wasted months of his life posting nonsense and triggering people here.

is it correct that the 1800X and 1700X is always without cooler for now?
Can we expect future versions with wraith cooler (140W) or should it always be bought separately for *00X CPUs?

Assuming voltage isn't increased (but it will):
    1800X: 3.6Ghz 4Ghz 95W
    is
    1800X: 5.3Ghz 5.9Ghz 140W (Freq*140/95)

So this is the very optimistic freq for 8 cores 140W with 1800X right?

Power is not scaling linearly with frequency because you have voltage that has to be increased and that is bringing the power up with a square law( voltage differential squared). 5.3Ghz ran at 1.85V as per CPUz and I suppose that is reported slightly higher than it really was. Assume real 1.65Vcore versus 1.1V for stock and you get (1.65/1.1)^2*5.3/3.6~=3.31x or 95*3.3=314W.
