SemiAccurate is back up

Apologies for the downtime

Flaming WaferSemiAccurate was down for about a week, what happened? And what if anything do I need to do?

First your part, you will probably need to change your password. Sorry about this, it is a pain in the rear but necessary at times and this is one of those times. If you do not get the password reset or any other SemiAccurate email, or things just don’t work, please email me, charlie @ semiaccurate.com and I will fix things as soon as I can. Also if you see any problems or broken things, again, please email me too. I want to fix everything before I start adding new features.

Back to the site, everything should be back to normal-ish, as far as anything on SemiAccurate is normal. But seriously, I think everything is back, nothing lost, and a few long standing problems fixed too. It also paves the way to do some additions I have long wanted to do. Stay tuned.

Lastly, what happened? The short version is it is all my fault, no hacks, no hardware issues, just me. I left some updates that should have happened for far too long. When the first thing broke, I patched it rather than doing the ground up updates I should have done. Then something else went bonk. I patched. Rinse and repeat.

Last week it all caught up to me. I had no choice but to do the things I had been putting off for too long. Diving in I came to another realization, my skills had seriously atrophied. Things I used to be able to do in my sleep were a bit more challenging. Lots of looking up details and what file did what. Sure things did change a bit but it was mostly on me. It was a steep learning curve but I got there.

Now things are back, at least as far as I can tell. As mentioned above, if you see anything wrong, missing, or whatnot, please email me. Once I am satisfied things are back to sanity for real, I will start rolling out the actual upgrades but it may be a bit. In any case, thanks for your patience.
