DELL’S UPCOMING ALIENWARE M17x R3 has leaked and with it that AMD is getting ready to launch the first of its new 6000-series of mobile GPU’s. Not much is known about the new Mobility Radeon 6000-series, but the first two models are rumoured to be the Mobility Radeon HD 6870 and 6970.
The leak comes courtesy of Notebook Italia and it isn’t exactly what you’d call detailed. Apart from the new AMD GPU’s it also mentions that the M17x R3 will be available with an optional Nvidia GeForce GTX 460M with up to 1.5GB of GDDR5 memory, but it mentions no additional details with regards to the AMD graphics options. There’s no mention of CPU options, but we’d presume that Dell has stuck with Intel’s Core i models and supporting chipsets.
A few other details did get posted though, such as the fact that the M17x R3 will be offered with an optional SiBeam Wireless HD card that allows for wireless streaming of 1080p HD video to a TV. A 3D display also seems to be an upgrade option and it seems like Dell has gotten its hands on a high-resolution 3.2Megapixel webcam that’s also part of the package. The M17x R3 will be available in at least red and black colours, although it’s not clear if other options will also be available. A massive 9-cell 93Whr battery will be powering the M17x R3 when on the road, something you most likely won’t want to take a 17-inch notebook onto too often.S|A
